šŸ«¶šŸ»About

Hi, I’m April

And this is a little piece of my story.

I didn’t create Big Heart Real Life because everything turned out perfect.

I created it because it didn’t.

–šŸ¤Ž–

I know what it feels like to be left out.

To be the one who doesn’t quite fit.

To feel like the black sheep, even in your own family.

To be talked about, laughed at, or made to feel like you’re somehow ā€œless than.ā€

I’ve lived in a body that’s been judged more than it’s been understood.

I’ve struggled with my weight my whole life.

I’ve tried to fix myself in ways that only hurt me more.

And there were seasons where I didn’t feel loved the way I needed to be.

–šŸ¤Ž–

That kind of life leaves marks.

Not always the kind people can see…

but the kind you carry with you.

–šŸ¤Ž–

For a long time, I thought I was the only one who felt this way.

Alone.

Unwanted.

Like I had to earn my place in the world.

–šŸ¤Ž–

But I’m not the only one.

And neither are you.

–šŸ¤Ž–

That’s why this space exists.

Big Heart Real Life isn’t about perfection.

This is not going to be some big fancy blog, just simple, truthful, harsh sometimes and a shoulder to lean on when you need an ear.

It’s about real people, real struggles, and finding a way to keep going anyway.

It’s for the ones who have felt pushed aside.

The ones who have been hurt by words that stuck too long.

The ones still learning how to see themselves with kindness.

–šŸ¤Ž–

If any part of this sounds like your story…

You belong here.

You’re not too much.

You’re not not enough.

You’re just someone who’s been through some things.

And you don’t have to go through them alone anymore.

“You made it this far–and that matters more than you know”.

“In a society that profits from your self-doubt, liking yourself is a rebellious act.”

A Little about me šŸ¤Ž

I am April, Nice to meet you. I’m a wife of 20 years, a mama to 3 beautiful children, a proud doggie mom, and someone who’s still figuring out one day at a time– just like you.

My world is made up of quiet moments, cozy spaces, and a lot of love for the people in my life. And for the people who want to be in my life.

–šŸ¤Ž–

I have a wonderful husband, Jamey, who walks through life with me. He has had his shares of unkindness in his life. Bullying since he was a child, divorced parents that were mentally, emotionally and sometimes physically abusive. He has self esteem issues from all that and a feeling of unworthiness.

He has been there for me through all my medical chaos and illnesses, that I think some would walk away from, but he hasn’t, (Love you baby!)

Then i have 3 wonderful kids, 2 boys and a daughter. They are the apple of my eye and the worm in my day sometimes, (Not kidding), but I love them anyway! They are smart and loving in their own way. One is on his journey, and I don’t get to see much of him. And the other 2, well they are still trying to find their way. All of them have lived a life of bullying in some shape or form, and had their heart broken by loved ones.

–šŸ¤Ž–

And somewhere in the middle of all the chaos and calm–I’m just trying to build a life that feels real and full.

You will get to know more about me through out this journey. But, I will share a few morsels with you. I love slow mornings, warm drinks, soft blankets, and creating little spaces that feel warm and inviting. I love chocolate covered almonds, and mocha iced coffee from Dunkin. (It runs through my veins, LOL)

And, let us not forget the Princess and Diva of this house, Pearl. She is spoiled and very sassy. But she is the biggest love bug and cuddler ever! She loves her dresses and her mini milk bones. (Well, kind of addicted, HA!)

And to round out this wonderful life, we live in a travel trailer. Yep, you read that right. We have been for 2 years now. We love it. It has it’s ups and downs, too. I will share that adventure too.

This isn’t a perfect life.

But it is mine.

And I’m learning to love it as it is.

šŸ¤ŽWelcome to my little part of the world. šŸ¤Ž
